Performing a Quick Calibration

When using Speakeasy in the Velocity Client, you must calibrate voice recognition each time a headset is paired with the mobile device.

Under the following conditions, quick calibration may or may not automatically launch:

Calibration will appear when the first session is opened and a headset is connected in a ready state.

Calibration will appear if you turn the headset off and then power it on again .

Calibration will appear if you close the last session or exit and then start a new first session.

Calibration will not appear if you move between sessions.

If a Bluetooth or NFC device is paired from the Android Settings app, this device is usable across all sessions in Velocity. If a device is paired during an active session, the headset is only used during that session. When a connection is ended, the pairing is ended.

You cannot pair a headset between multiple sessions. Unless the headset is paired via the Android settings app, session pairing is not possible.

When quick calibration launches, the following actions occur:

The app prompts the user to say, "Testing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5." This phrase can be altered through the context menu from the Velocity Console User Guide.

The app then asks the user to remain quiet for five seconds.

For both of these actions, no actual voice recognition is performed. Speakeasy uses these moments to examine the noise levels when a user is speaking and then compare it against background noise. This process is repeated until a good range of audio levels is detected. The noise levels identified at the lowest range are ignored as background noise.

To perform a quick calibration from the Velocity Client, navigate to Menu > Quick Calibration.

If an acceptable audio range is not detected, Velocity automatically alters the volume level and repeatedly performs the calibration again. This test is performed up to five times before the calibration is aborted.

The results of the calibration are stored in the voice logs.
