Getting started with Ivanti Velocity

Ivanti Velocity is a Android, iOS, or Windows client that can connect to Telnet hosts (including IBM 5250/3270 and VT100/220), web apps, and Oracle SIM hosts. For Telnet and Oracle SIM hosts, it can present applications to your users in a modern touch interface, either with automatic, predictive reformatting or with a customized experience.

Install the Client

Install the Velocity Client on an Android, iOS, or Windows 10 device and license it.

For information about installing, see Installing the Velocity Client.

For information on how to set up licensing, see Licensing the Client.

(Optional) Use the Rapid Modernization website

To get started quickly, use the Rapid Modernization website to create a configuration to distribute to devices. This allows you to create a deployment file with basic settings, or upload an existing .wltna file to create a Velocity deployment file. The Rapid Modernization website is much faster than installing the Console to create a deployment file, but it does not include all the options available in the Console.

If you use the website to convert an existing .wltna file, all of the options that Velocity supports will be converted and included in the Velocity deployment file.

Install the Console

The Velocity Console is an application installed on your desktop or laptop, and is used to configure the Velocity Client. Create host profiles for different host types, import screens and edit how they appear, create and edit forms that can be used to augment your existing processes, and set up speech-to-text or text-to-speech using Ivanti Speakeasy.

Install the Velocity Console on a Windows desktop or laptop. For information about installing the Console, see Installing or upgrading the Velocity Console. Using the Velocity Console, configure the host information in a project.

Configure the Client settings

Initially, you may want to keep configuration simple and just provide the host address and connection type. Later, you can configure other host options and add customized keyboards, scripts, touchscreen elements, and voice actions. For information about configuring a project, see Configuring host profiles.

Distribute the settings to the device

Distribute the project with its settings to the device. For information about deploying a project, see Deploying a project.

Launch the Velocity Client and tap on the name of the host profile to connect to the host.
