Importing Asset Information

Cherwell Asset Management includes an Asset Import Wizard that you can use to import asset information from an Excel spreadsheet into the CAM Database. The spreadsheet must be in Excel 8.0 format or later. You can import the following information:

Asset name
Serial number
Description
Type
IP address
Manufacturer
Cost
Purchase date
Location
Owner
Date maintenance agreement expires
Notes
Any custom fields you created

The Excel spreadsheet you want to import must contain, at a minimum, columns that correspond to the required fields in bold above. However, although a column that corresponds to the Serial number field is required, its cells can be blank; no actual serial numbers are required in the spreadsheet. The other items are optional.
