CAM Access Point

The CAM Access Point, a web service running under Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS), manages data communication between the database and machines on which the CAM Agent is installed.

The primary component of CAM Access Point is the Agent Services functionality, which accepts inventory information and metering data. It also provides agents with configuration information as needed. (The user interface to agent configuration is via CAM Administrator.)

A CAM installation may have more than one access point for access or scalability reasons.

In hosted environments, an Access Point manages this process.
