What Inventory Information Is Collected?
Windows Machines
On the Windows platform, Cherwell Asset Management collects the following information from workstations and servers:
- File information, including name, size, date, path, and version.
Extended file information such as CRC and data stored in the file header can
also be collected for any machine by enabling the Collect extended inventory
information option in the Options tab of the machine's Properties dialog box.
Inventory scans for .exe and .com files, but you can add other extensions to be
searched as well.
You can also scan for any type of file extension (such as .doc) by typing the extension in the Add Extension dialog box.
- Status, start mode, and path information for available services.
- Information about installed applications.
- Workstations’ basic hardware information, such as computer name, SMS ID, CPU type and speed, memory, disk space, and network card address.
- ISO tag file information.
- From network devices, information like manufacturer, description, type of device, serial number, IP address, physical address, uptime, location, and status.

Linux/Unix/Mac OS Machines
On Linux/Unix/Mac OS machines, Cherwell Asset Management collects the following information:
- Hardware information as available, including disk drive and network adapter summaries.
- Operating system name and version.
- Status, start mode, and path information for available services.
- Installed software packages on each machine.
