After you've completed an initial deployment, use HEAT PatchLink DeskTop for System Center's different features to facilitate future 3rd-party
patching.
Workflow Tasks
These are the tasks you'll perform most frequently when using HEAT PatchLink DeskTop for System Center.
-
Publish new software when a
new HEAT PatchLink DeskTop Catalog is synchronized
- If you aren't Auto Publishing software, you'll need to manually maintain your 3rd-party software. Repeat
the process of publishing content each time a new HEAT PatchLink DeskTop Catalog is synchronized.
-
Deploy software
- As your network and library of software changes, you'll need to deploy software from the
HEAT PatchLink DeskTop Catalog to keep your systems patched with 3rd-party software.
Optional Tasks
You don't have to complete these, but they may make it easier to keep your network patched with 3rd-party software.

Setup a custom synchronization schedule
- By default, HEAT PatchLink DeskTop for System Center synchronizes when Windows Server Update Services synchronizes. If you want to increase or
decrease how often HEAT PatchLink DeskTop for System Center completes syncs, setup a custom sync schedule.
-
Configure alerts
- You can setup HEAT PatchLink DeskTop for System Center to notify you of important events by either emails or in-console alerts.
