RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML format that is used to gather live information from different sources and deliver it in summarized format to your desktop. The information is delivered as an XML file known as an RSS feed or RSS channel.
Users can subscribe to and access RSS feeds using an RSS reader, or aggregator. The RSS reader automatically refreshes the RSS feeds so that new information is displayed without you having to visit the relevant information source (such as a news web site or Service Desk).
There are a number of RSS readers available for download from the Internet, each providing different ways of displaying RSS feeds. Examples include tickers, screen savers, and web browsers.
