Software Users

The Software Users page records software usage where the metric (measurement unit of liability) is based on the number of users of the software.

The Software Users page has three tabs:

Full User Details

Summary User Details

Unmatched Software

Full User Details

Software Users page: Full User Details tab

The Full User Details tab displays records for software usage where the name of the user has to be recorded.

To add a new Full User Details software user record:

1.Click Add User Role from the Software Users page gears menu.
The Role Details dialog appears.

2.Set the following properties as required, then click OK:

User Name – select from the list of user records in License Optimizer. For more information, see Named User Management.

Business Unit

Product – select a product from the drop-down list of products. Only products that have a Software Users role assigned to them appear in this list.

Measurement – the role that the product is “measured” on. For example, Admin Users, Read-only Users, and so on. For more information on roles, see Previous Reconciliations.

Quantity

You can edit records by clicking the record in the data grid to display the Edit User Details dialog. You can delete records by clicking alongside the relevant record.

Summary User Details

Software Users page: Summary User Details tab

The Summary User Details tab displays records for software usage where the number of users needs to be recorded but the names do not.

To add a new Summary User Details software user record:

1.Click Add Summary option from the gears menu on the Summary User Details tab.
The Resource Usage Details dialog appears.

2.Set the following properties as required, then click OK:

Business Unit

Product – select a product from the drop-down list of products. Only products that have a Software Users role assigned to them appear in the list.

Measurement – the role that the product is “measured” on, such as Admin Users, Read-only Users, and so on. For more information on roles, see Previous Reconciliations.

Quantity

You can edit records by clicking the record in the data grid to display the Edit User Details dialog. You can delete records by clicking alongside the relevant record.

Unmatched Software

Software Users page: Unmatched Software tab

The Unmatched Software tab shows imported records where the product has not been recognized (where License Optimizer could not definitively match the record to a product in the License Optimizer Software Library). Software records must be linked to a product listed in the Software Library or they are not included in reconciliation. To match these records to an entry in the License Optimizer Software Library, use software teaching. For more information on software teaching, see Software Teaching.
