Configuring Host Profiles

A host profile defines the settings that the Velocity Client should use when it attempts to initiate a connection with a specific host. The host profile may include the emulation type, IP address of the host, or other settings. You may configure an unlimited number of host profiles from the device or through Ivanti Avalanche. Only one host profile is allowed per project using Velocity Console, and a host profile is required to deploy a project.

When a device user attempts to initiate a session with a host, the Velocity Client displays a list of available host profiles. The user selects the host he wants to connect to, and the Velocity Client uses the host profile settings to connect to the host.

Depending on the emulation type, different options are available when configuring a host profile from the Velocity Console. Likewise, some settings may not be present on the Velocity Client. To view the settings available from Android devices, see the Velocity Client User Guide. The following options are available when you configure a host profile in Velocity Console:

Authorization

License Server Address

The IP address or host name of the licensing server. If the devices are on the same local network as the licensing server, the address does not need to be specified as the Client will actively broadcast and find the server.

License Server Port

The TCP port number on which the License Server is listening for license requests from Clients. By default, the port is set to 1820. This field cannot be set until a License Server Address is specified.

License Server Site ID

The site ID associated with the License Server. This field cannot be set until a License Server Address is specified.

Site IDs are set as part of the License Server's initial setup. For more information, see the Terminal Emulation License Server Reference Guide on the Ivanti Web site.

Security

ClosedTE

SSL

Use SSL

Uses SSL to encrypt the information sent to the host. When this option is selected, the Port field for the host profile is changed to 992. You cannot use ConnectPro when SSL is enabled.

SSH

Use SSH

Uses SSH to encrypt the information sent to the host. There is no additional software for SSH on the device, but the host must be configured for SSH. When this option is selected, the Auto Login User and Auto Login Password fields appear and must be filled out and the Port field is changed to 22.

This setting requires a public key to authenticate against the SSH server. The public key can only be associated with a host profile from the Velocity Console application.

You can only select this option or Use SSH Tunnel, but not both.

Use SSH Tunnel

Sets whether or not to use SSH tunneling. If you are using 5250 emulation with SSH, you must use SSH tunneling. When this option is selected, the Auto Login User, Auto Login Password, Tunnel Address, and Tunnel Port fields appear below and the Port field is changed to 22.

This setting requires a public key to authenticate against the SSH server. The public key can only be associated with a host profile from the Velocity Console application.

You can only select this option or Use SSH, but not both.

Auto Login User

The username for accessing the SSH server.

This option is only available when Use SSH or Use SSH Tunnel is selected.

Auto Login Password

The password associated with the SSH username.

This option is only available when Use SSH or Use SSH Tunnel is selected.

Known Host

The public key needed to verify the trusted host. Whereas device users can manually verify the trusted host, using this field is more secure. By entering a known host public key, this automatically stores the key information on the device when the profile is deployed to a device.

When connecting to a server, the Client then compares the stored public key against what the server provides. This bypasses the verify trusted host prompt on the Client that displays when connecting to a session for the first time.

If the public key changes, future deployments of your project will overwrite the old public key. Device users can also remove the current key by clearing the app data from the Settings app.

This field is optional.

Tunnel Address

The IP address or host name for the SSH tunnel.

This option is only available when Use SSH Tunnel is selected.

Tunnel Port

The TCP port number associated with the Tunnel Address for SSH tunneling.

This option is only available when Use SSH Tunnel is selected.

ConnectPro

Only Use ConnectPro connections

Indicates whether the Velocity Client should only connect to the host through a ConnectPro server. If you enable this checkbox, you cannot select the Use SSL setting in the SSL Settings section.

Server Type

The version number of the ConnectPro server.

Address

The IP address or host name of the server. To prompt a device user for all or part of the address, use a variable delineated by %. Variables can be used in DNS names or IP addresses. For example:

192.168.42.%Store Number%

The text that is inside the % indicators is the information that appears in the prompt on the device. In the above example, the prompt on the device would ask the user for "Store Number." If the user provides the store number 123, the Client attempts to connect to 192.168.42.123.

Port

The TCP port number on which the proxy server is listening for emulation requests from clients.

Terminate ConnectPro Session

Indicates when the ConnectPro server should terminate the connection to the host.

Possible values include:

Never. The proxy server never terminates the session established with the host. The Client is responsible for manually terminating the session.

OnNetworkError. The proxy server terminates the session with the host when a network error occurs, such as a loss of network connectivity.

OnSessionExit. The proxy server terminates the session with the host when the session is terminated by the Velocity Client. By default, this option is selected.

Always. The proxy server will terminate the session with the host on a network error or when the session is terminated.

Client Reconnects if Unexpectedly Disconnected

Specifies if the Velocity Client will attempt to reconnect if the session with the proxy server is lost and the Client has not received a disconnect message from the proxy server. By default, this is set to Yes.

Reconnect String

Specifies the reconnect string that the Smart device should use when connecting to the host. Alternately, you may configure reconnect strings in ConnectPro.

Use SSL

Uses SSL/TLS to encrypt the information sent to the host. There is no additional software for SSL/TLS on Smart devices, but the host must be configured for SSL/TLS.

Use Custom Encryption

Uses a Ivanti custom encryption method to encrypt the connection to the ConnectPro server. When you use custom encryption, provide an encryption key in the Key field below.

Key

Specifies a custom encryption key.

Scanner

Scan Terminator

Append termination characters to the end of scanned data. You can only set one character at a time.

The following options are available for TE:

\0D: ENTER

\09: TAB

\00: NULL

[blank]: Leaving this field blank appends no character values to the end of the scanned data

The following options are available for Web:

{ENTER}: ENTER

{TAB}: TAB

[blank]: Leaving this field blank appends no character values to the end of the scanned data

If you configure this field with a value and set Data Capture to Off, then you must configure the Intent section of the local DataWedge profile to be used with the Velocity Client.

Select Vendor

Specifies the scan settings to associate with the host profile. The current options include:

Datalogic

Zebra

Honeywell

ClosedDatalogic

ClosedZebra

ClosedHoneywell

ClosedBluebird

Voice

To see this tab in the Velocity Console, you must have the Speakeasy Tools application installed. This can be found on the Ivanti website.

Enable Voice

Enables the use of speech-to-text and text-to-speech when using the Velocity Client.

Language for Voice Prompts

Specifies the text-to-speech language package when using voice features. When specified, all text on a screen is pronounced in the selected language, even if text is written in English. It is capable of interpreting accents and special characters relevant to that language.

If the selected language is not supported, all text is read in English.

Voice

Specifies the voice file to use. Each character has a unique sound specific to the language selected. The names with the bolded style are included within the Speakeasy .apk and require no additional voice files when deploying to a device.

Language for Voice Recognition

Specifies the speech-to-text language to package when using voice features. When set, the Velocity Client listens only for voice commands in that language. The language engine is capable of interpreting accents and translating them to text, including any special characters.

The options for English USA and Spanish Mexico are both bolded in this drop-down menu. This means the associated language files are included with the Speakeasy .apk and require no additional files when deploying to a project.

Starting Volume

Sets the volume level for the speech-to-text voice. Volume levels are measured by percentage. By default, this is set to 80. This can be controlled through voice commands.

Enable STT Audio Logging

Enables the logging of STT, or raw audio streams, from the voice engine. Audio logs are saved to the SD card within the com.wavelink.velocity folder. This log can only contain a maximum of 1,000 samples.

Once you've enabled voice, you can create context menu items for voice. You can also associate grammar files with your project as resources.

To associate a host profile with your project

1.Click the Hosts button.

2.Configure the host profile as needed.

3.To save your changes, click the Save button.

When your project is deployed and added to a mobile or Smart device, the new host profile settings are added to the Velocity Client. Replacing the details for an old host profile from the project level will not delete any host profiles created from previous deployments. For more information about deploying a project, see Deploying Projects.
