Getting Started

The Velocity Console desktop application is designed for importing and editing screens, creating custom keyboards, and associating host profiles that you can use on the Ivanti Velocity Client for Android devices. Projects created using this application can then be exported to devices and used as default settings and connection options for emulation types like IBM 5250/3270 and VT100/220. For information on using the Client, see the Velocity Client User Guide.

The Velocity Client comes with a built-in HTML and CSS rendering engine to give traditional black-and-green screen captures a more modern appearance and achieve easier navigation. By default, it utilizes predictive formatting to automatically apply a more modern appearance to your existing screens. Through the use of element editing, you can alter the presentation of screens captured in Ivanti Terminal Emulation with branding to match your company's style guides. For more information, see Configuring Screens.

Custom keyboards are created, edited, and exported as part of a project. Before you can create individual keyboards, you must first create a project in which to house your keyboards. Custom keyboards and templates are created and their behaviors and presentations are controlled within a project. From the Keyboards screen, you can assign multiple values to keys and associate them with states, such as a shifted or long press state. At the key level, alphanumeric characters or HEX codes are supported for special actions like function keys. At the keyboard level, orientation viewing modes, key styles, and templates are supported for increased control over keyboard use. For more information, see Creating Custom Keyboards.

When creating a project, you can also define a single host profile that the Velocity Client should use when it attempts to initiate a connection. Host profiles define the parameters the Velocity Client should use when connecting to a specific host, such as emulation type and IP address. For more information, see Configuring Host Profiles.

Projects created in the Velocity Console can be used on Android devices with the Velocity Client installed. A project is deployed to a bundled file, which can then be transferred to devices manually, or using mobile device management services like Ivanti Avalanche. Once distributed to devices, the new application settings, custom elements, and host profiles take effect for end user devices. For more information, see Deploying Projects.
