Getting started

Welcome to the Ivanti Neurons for ITAM online help. The getting-started information is intended for Asset Administrators of the product.

To set up Ivanti Neurons for ITAM Cloud or On-Premises in your environment, see Setup.

After finishing that process, you'll need to import your asset data into the ITAM database using one of several methods. To find the best method for your situation, see Data import.

Finally, you need to assign user roles to everyone who will be working within the ITAM user console. Roles define a person's responsibilities within the product and determine the workspaces they have access to. For details, see User roles.

You'll find that Ivanti Neurons for ITAM is similar to the related product Ivanti Neurons for ITSM, upon which it runs. The products also share many of the same workspaces.

Next steps

Once the above tasks are completed, you can begin exploring the ITAM user console. Start with the following topics to gain an understanding of the workspaces you'll use the most:

•Dashboards – A number of asset-related dashboards are available as starting points to understanding the viewable data. Read about each dashboard, as well as the user roles that have access to them.

•Hardware assets – The Hardware Assets workspace provides access to all of your asset records. Learn about the asset details you can view from this workspace and how to manage those records.

•Software assets – The Software Assets workspace provides access to the software asset records in your environment. You can import records for licensable software into this workspace.

You can use ITAM to manage asset inventory, procurement, contracts, and vendors; set up an online Product Catalog for your organization; view asset reports, and so on.
