Getting Started

This section describes installing Avalanche, setting up your Avalanche environment, and connecting devices. After following these steps, you will be able to begin managing devices with Avalanche.

.Install Avalanche. For more information, see Installing Avalanche.

.Activate licenses for Avalanche. The number of licenses you should activate is based on the number of devices you want to manage. For more information, see Licensing.

.Create regions. Regions allow you to group server locations that share a set of similar characteristics, such as geographic location or role within your organization’s structure. For more information, see Managing Regions.

.Create folders. Folders are groups of devices that connect to the same device server. For more information, see Managing Folders.

.Configure profiles. Profiles allow you to manage configurations and settings centrally and then deploy those configurations to as many locations as necessary. Use profiles to update or modify multiple servers or devices instead of manually changing settings for each one. For more information, see Configuration Profiles.

.Assign profiles to locations. When you assign a profile to a location and perform a synchronization, the settings from the profiles are applied to the location and any associated devices. For more information, see Applying Profiles.

.Perform a Deployment. To update settings in the selected locations, perform a deployment. For more information see Deploying Changes.

.Connect Devices. Install Enablers on your devices, and configure the Enablers to connect to a device server. For more information, see Connecting Devices to the Avalanche Server.
