What are Alerts?

Like any other software, HEAT PatchLink DeskTop for System Center (HEAT PatchLink DeskTop) includes key events related to maintenance. As a user, it's important to know when these events occur so that you can take action. To help you know when these events are pending or occurring, HEAT PatchLink DeskTop includes alerts, which are notifications of important events.

Alert Formats

You can consume alerts two different ways:

System Center Configuration Manager Console Alerts
By default, HEAT PatchLink DeskTop displays all alerts in the System Center Configuration Manager console. View active alerts by navigating to Active Alerts.

Alert Subscriptions
Alert subscriptions are email versions of the alerts that appear in the System Center Configuration Manager Console. When an alert is activated, it's sent to any email address that's has a subscription to it. These alerts are not configured by default. You'll need to set them up using Manage Alerts.

Alert Views

You can work with alerts from two HEAT PatchLink DeskTop views:

Active Alerts
This view is the more important of the two. It lists alerts that are currently active, which are events have occurred recently or require action for resolution. Some examples of these are:
  • The latest HEAT PatchLink DeskTop Catalog synchronized contains new software.
  • Expiration of your HEAT PatchLink DeskTop license is approaching.
  • The latest synchronization(s) have failed.
Manage Alerts
This view is used for viewing and setting alert configurations. Using the view controls to tweak configurations: set alert trigger values, change severities, enter notes, and so on.
