Connecting Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 Devices to the Avalanche Server

When registering a device with Avalanche, use an e-mail address in one of the domains on the System Settings page. To add e-mail domains, see Configuring General System Settings. Windows Phone 8 and newer enrollment is only available through LANDESK Mobility Manager 9.5 and newer.

To connect a Windows Phone 8 device to the Avalanche server:

1.From the device, navigate to Settings > Company apps.

2.Enter your Email address and Password.

3.Tap sign in.

The device attempts a default connection. If the default address fails, you are prompted to provide the domain, username, and the fully qualified domain name of the Smart device server.

Once connected, a Windows Phone 8 device will automatically sync with the Avalanche service once every 24 hours.

To connect a Windows Phone 8.1 device to the Avalanche server:

1.From the device, navigate to Settings > Workplace.

2.Tap add account.

3.Enter your Email address and then tap sign in.

The device attempts to locate your servers based on the domain name in the email address. For example, if your email address is [email protected], the device looks for an EnterpriseRegistration.wavelink.com Domain Name System (DNS) CNAME resource record that points to the Active Directory server ad.wavelink.com. If you didn't create this record as part of your setup, the device displays a new page indicating the phone wasn't able to find the server and you must manually enter your Active Directory server name in the Server field.

4.Enter the password associated with your email address and then tap Sign in.

5.On the ACCOUNT ADDED page, select Install company app and then tap done.

6.The Avalanche app is installed. The Windows Phone 8.1 device will automatically sync with the Avalanche service once every 24 hours.

To manually sync a Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 device with the Avalanche server:

1.For Windows Phone 8 devices, navigate to Settings > Company Apps. For Windows Phone 8.1 devices, navigate to Settings > Workplace.

2.Select Avalanche.

3.Tap the Sync button.
